If your iPhone won’t force‑restart, then the update failed and the phone is stuck in a partial install state.

1 Try a force‑restart again (timing matters):

Press and release Volume Up ➡️ press and release Volume Down ➡️ hold Side button for 30–40 seconds until the screen goes black and the Apple logo reappears.

(If the screen never goes black, keep holding — many users release too early.)

2 If it still won’t restart, connect the iPhone to a Mac or PC.

Open Finder (Mac) or Apple Devices app / iTunes (Windows).

Keep the iPhone connected.

Put the iPhone into Recovery Mode manually:

Press and release Volume Up.

Press and release Volume Down.

Hold Side button until you see the computer + cable Recovery Mode screen.

When the computer prompts you, choose Update (not Restore).

This reinstalls iOS without erasing data.

3 If Update fails or the phone exits Recovery Mode, repeat the steps and choose Restore — this erases the device but fixes the firmware.

If the iPhone still won’t complete the update or restore, there may be a deeper hardware or firmware issue.
