my iphone 14 keeps restarting. i updated to the most recent iOS (18.6) but it didnt help. it will randomly crash (much like a computer), the screen turns black, and then back onto the apple startup logo.

That is almost certainly a failing battery. Go to Settings/Battery/Battery Health and see what it says.
To replace the battery see→iPhone Battery Replacement - Official Apple Support. if you schedule it in advance it can frequently be done while you wait (or have lunch or shop)

Update: I'm getting the battery checked out at a nearby Apple Store.
