iPhone 17 Pro voice dictation issues

I have totally the same issue. The dictation is the worst I’ve ever seen it and I’ve had iPhones since they were invented. Whether it’s WhatsApp, messages, Google strangely enough as I’m dictating now it’s working absolutely fine. I have been in touch with technical support and they have taken me through some things to apparently sort it out, but alas, the problem is still there. Is he literally to the point where you have to forget the dictation completely and buy everything by hand. Apple Please sort it out

I don’t care what the specs are. There’s no way you can convince me that it hasn’t gotten nearly unusable on the new phones.

Thanks for for this; however, in my experience thus far a month into having 17 pro:

•the on device AI speech recognition is horrendous

• the processing of dictation to the naked eye is not as fast

• in no way is the accuracy higher; quite the opposite - it stinks

I have had nothing but problems when using dictation. Texting has become extremely tedious as I have to rely on dictation. It rarely works and it takes four times longer to do it; I end up typing anyway. I have tried several methods, talking slower or louder etc. The technology may be better than previously used prior to iPhone 17 Pro Max but operationally it is far from favorable.

I agree with you 100%. These iPhones are highly expensive. I don’t mind spending good money on something that works but unless they find a fix, this is the last iPhone I will ever buy the only reason I’m keeping it now is cause I’m bound to a contract.

Open an iPhone user since iPhone one and 17 speak features the worst. And Siri is useless. I don’t drive and text and if I’m working, if I wanna send a quick text to somebody, it’s easier to use my speak feature, but not when I have to proofread every freaking word because of how bad the speak feature is. Apple needs to fix it immediately or I switched to android which I never thought I’d actually say but I’m very close to doing it because of how bad the technology is. I use my speak feature constantly and the stuff it’s typing right now is awful. I don’t have a southern drawl. I speak very clearly, but Apple iPhone 17 it up bad.

I’m sorry but it is objectively worse. Much better performance on previous iPhones. I have owned every iPhone and I use dictation a lot.

Same. I tried dictating my response. It failed miserably and I had to type it out

Horrible! I can’t use it at all. Freezes, jumbles words and eliminates entire sections of speech. So much time wasted making corrections! I’m over it!

I thought that they monitored these things, I never used this platform before. Just agreeing with what everyone else has posted. Just doing what everyone else is doing here.

I use voice dictation for almost everything. And on my new iPhone, which is a 17 Pro, the voice dictation is absolutely horrendous! I really don’t know what to do. Is there a fix?
