Final Cut Pro font styles revert on render/export

I’m experiencing a frustrating bug in Final Cut Pro where selected font styles (Bold, Semibold, etc.) consistently revert to top selection drop down item font during rendering and export, even after extensive troubleshooting. This affects all fonts I’ve tested, including built-in ones like Helvetica and Inter.

Issue Details:

• Symptom: In the Text Inspector, I select a font style like Bold from the Style pop-up. Preview shows correctly with playhead over the title. However, rendered playback and exported files always render as Regular weight.

• Affected Elements: Happens with Basic Title, Custom Title (single/multi-line), across multiple projects/libraries.

• Fonts Tested: Helvetica Bold, Inter Bold —every normal font fails the same way.

Troubleshooting Completed (No Resolution):

• Reset FCP preferences (Option+Command launch).

• Deleted all render/cache files (File → Delete Generated Library Files).

• Created new Library/Project, copied content over.

• Validated fonts in Font Book; resolved duplicates; disabled variable fonts.

The issue persists universally—preview briefly shows correct bold weight, but render/export always falls back to Regular. This makes text titles unusable for professional work.

Could you please investigate this font style persistence bug? A diagnostic tool, library analysis, or known workaround would be greatly appreciated. Happy to share a sample library/project file or screen recordings.

Thank you for your assistance.

I am having the same issue.. Have called apple Support and stayed more than one hour on the phone, have tried all the troubleshoots with no success, the isssue persists..the onle solution I could fine is choosing you font style bold or regular, or whatever, then save it in the attributes and formats as a preset then apply it every time you apply a Title ..

I'm testing this, not seeing any issues.

Have you tested this out in other apps? Like Motion or Pages?

One thing you can try is open Font Book, select all, File > Validate Selection. See if any issues pop up. Once the validation is complete, there's a menu you can set to show issues and errors, or just errors. Remove or reinstall any with issues.
