Home app: Camera automation and user invite issues

I have two issues with the Home App.

First: I had a buddy of mine who is staying at my place as a user/resident on the Home app, and the setting was set that when BOTH of us are away, the camera would switch to Stream and Record. However, he never had the location services turned on on his iPhone until last night. Once he did, I was getting alerts every time he moved around, because it did not recognize he was home. When he turned it off, it was fine.

Second: Troubleshooting yesterday, he turned the location services back on, and updated his iPhone to latest software. Still had the same issue. I removed him from a user, and when I try to add him back, it says "Invitation Pending", but he never received an email from me for him to accept.

Without having the exact same setup (1 foreigner in my home) I can't try it out. Location services can in my mind explain why the automation didn't work.

However - I think I can help you with your second problem / trying to add him. I had the exact issue with my wife - added her via adressbook, but it stayed at "pending".

In my case, adding her via her e-mail which was used for her apple-id worked instantly.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond. The 2nd issue actually corrected the first. For whatever reason, you can only add someone to the Home via email (messages would be easier). However, it seems as though you both need to be in the home and in the Home app when adding. Once I went back over there, started from scratch, and opened the home app on his iPhone, it worked, which brings me back to the first issue...

Now that he was put back in, after searching Grok for possible issues, one possible issue was calibrating the location. The first night he just turned it off, so it wasn't going off while he was home. However when he left for work he turned it back on, and it's been fine ever since.
