Some generic apps are preventing sleep

Windowserver, powerd and some other stuff is preventing sleep in my macbook pro, I want to be able to put my Mac to sleep

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.1

Predicated on your user byline , which is not always accurate, " MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.1 " released

The current version is now Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)


Suggest you upDate


Then open Terminal and run:

pmset -g assertions


Look for lines like, PreventUserIdleSystemSleep and PreventSystemSleep


If you see a specific applications listed (e.g. Chrome, Zoom, etc.), that’s the real culprit—not WindowServer or powerd.
