How to troubleshoot Siri announcements not working for water alarms and reminders on iPhone?

I have water alarms and reminders that I want Siri to announce. I set it up and it appeared to be working, after a few announcements were made it stopped announcing. I have tried multiple times to get this to work and can’t get it. I get text messages, but it only chimes saying I have a text or other alerts depending on the app. This does nothing for me if I’m watching TV. It’s supposed to be a feature of Siri but as seems to be a trend with Apple lately nothing works the way it’s supposed to. It doesn’t seem it should be that difficult. Anyone else having an issue with this, or a solution? Thanks for any responses
