How do I manage multiple passwords for the same account in Apple's Password Manager?

Hi the password manager on my ipad drives me crazy. It will prompt me to change a password but it does not just change the password it saves it again so when I go to my passwords I can see 2 three and more saved passwords for one account. I just tried to log into an account that I have never had issues with and all of a sudden I can’t log in. I go to the password and I find four passwords for an account that has only ever had one password and I can’t guess which one but also cannot test that many without getting locked out of my account. It has also been prompting me to save passwords when I log in with a password I already have so I hit don’t save but I don’t think it listens. I am too old for this can anyone recommend a not too expensive but works all time password app.

Ditto … and for me … on a machine which is normally “off-net” and in files which are scrupulously backed-up “3-2-1”

The ability to run the same “vault” database file(s) on different PW Managers and OS platforms is IMO essential to guard against becoming stranded if any particular 3rd party developer “looses interest” in maintaining their particular product.
