iPad Calendar app: No precise event minute setting

The Apple “Calendar” app on my iPad (iPadOS 26.4.2) no longer allows precise minute settings for events. However, this app on my iPhone (iOS 26.4.2) does still allow precise minute settings.


Instead of displaying the expected thumbwheel (or numpad) to set the precise minute time for an event, the iPad displays a goofy looking single line full of semicircles (like half Moons).


I’ve already submitted a formal problem report to Apple about this bug.


Are others experiencing this problem (inability to set precise event times)? Has anybody got a workaround or fix?

Yes, you are not alone. This is a known graphical layout bug on iPadOS where the time-picker wheel fails to render correctly (causing those strange semicircle artifacts) and blocks precise minute selection, while iOS remains unaffected.

Great job submitting the bug report! While waiting for an official Apple fix, here are 4 quick workarounds to set precise minutes right now:

  1. Use Siri: This is the fastest way. Activate Siri and say: "Change my 2 PM event to 2:03 PM" or "Create an event tomorrow from 3:07 PM to 4:12 PM." Siri bypasses the broken UI entirely.
  2. Use a Hardware Keyboard: If you have a Magic Keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard connected, tap the time box, highlight the minute digits, and type the exact time directly.
  3. Drag-and-Drop (Day/Week View): Create the event at a rough time (e.g., 2:00 PM). Switch to Day or Week view, tap and hold the event, and drag it up or down. Moving it slowly allows you to snap to precise minutes.
  4. Edit via iPhone: Since your iPhone works perfectly, make the precise time adjustment there, and it will instantly sync to your iPad via iCloud.
