How do I stop slide to type from autocorrecting ordinary words (NOT slang)?

How do I stop slide to type from autocorrecting ordinary words (NOT slang)?

I’m trying to do a Google search that includes the word ‘murder’ and it refuses to accept it however carefully I slide type it.

I’m a grown man trying to look up the cast of a prime time UK crime drama on TV. If I was typing “see you next Tuesday” (think about it…) I could understand, but this is an ordinary English word you can find in any dictionary. This kind of censoring is just stupid.

How do I make it treat me like a grown up (I’m 59, FFS!!!!!)?

Sorry no-one has answered your question until now. Am no expert on this, yet Apple support provides articles that may help:

You can set up a text replacement for any word that you want

Save keystrokes with text replacements on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Create a text replacement

While typing in a text field, touch and hold  or .

Tap Keyboard Settings,

then tap Text Replacement.

Tap  at the top right.

Type a phrase in the Phrase field and the text shortcut you want to use for it in the Shortcut field.

Have a word or phrase you use and don’t want it corrected?

Go to Settings  > General > Keyboard, then tap Text Replacement.

Tap  at the top right, then enter your word or phrase in the Phrase field, but leave the Shortcut field blank.

If you haven't already: You can try tapping each letter while you are still slide-to-typing, as you can simply switch back and forth if you aren't getting the word you want.

On iPhone, you can end up with the text you want:

Type with the onscreen keyboard on iPhone - Apple Support has lots of tips:

Eg: says:

  • "Undo autocorrect: As you type, misspelled words are automatically corrected and temporarily underlined so you know what’s been changed; to revert to the spelling as you typed it, tap the underlined word, then tap the spelling you want to use.
  • Correct spelling: Tap a misspelled word (underlined in red) to see suggested corrections, then tap a suggestion to replace the word, or type the correction.
  • Undo the last edit: Swipe left with three fingers, then tap Undo at the top of the screen.
  • Redo the last edit: Swipe right with three fingers, then tap Redo at the top of the screen."

How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or ...

Eg: says: By default, Auto-Correction is on.

Turn Auto-Correction on or off

  1. In the Settings app, tap General.
  2. Tap Keyboard.
  3. Turn Auto-Correction on or off

If you have restrictions in place you can change them:

(1) You could try checking the ScreenTime settings:

Get started with Screen Time on iPhone - Apple Support

or

(2) See: If you’re asked to confirm that you’re an adult - Apple Support

Could it be Google ?

Maybe try a different search engine, if Google's isn't working for you ...

Eg ... some of us use "Duck Duck Go" to search, and there are others.
