I get the same correct response that lukairure46 received.
If like your post says, you asked who the current Pope "was", that infers you mean the Pope before the current one. The correct question you would want to ask is: Who "is" the current Pope?
these forums are user helping other users like yourself, it's sort of going to a physical apple store and asking other customers their advice
doubt any of us has much insight into why Siri would have outdated info

I attempted to replicate your issue by asking Siri the same Q.
In my case, I actually got the correct answer (Leo xiv). And when I opened the summary module, I noted that Wikipedia was listed as the source that Siri referenced in order to return that correct answer.
If you follow this 2-step process, what source(s) does Siri indicate it used? The answer to this question may provide some insight as to why an incorrect answer was generated in your case.
