Home pod mini has a mind of it's own, frustrating

My homepod mini plays music and tasks on its own, started happening 2 days ago. It will just play random music, not even on my playlists, or Siri will say things like, sure let me check for you, or here's some music you like, or just random sporadic things like this.

I exhausted all troubleshooting with tech support, over the course of 2 days, and then hopped on a call with someone, only to finally tell me that sorry, sounds like its failing and since its 4 years old, you should just buy a new one.

No help with a discount toward a new one, nothing. Pretty disappointing that it fails after a few years and I can no longer use it. Anyone else have this issue?

It sounds like your HomePods are falsely activating by something it hears. I would recommend changing the activation word to "Hey Siri" instead of just the "Siri" activation word. That will prevent false activation for such common words as "Serious", "Shirley", "Cereal", "Sheree", etc, whenever it is heard from a TV playing in the background or incidental conversations.
