If you have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security/AV/firewall App such as Norton, these may be interfering with your iPad's network stack - even if the VPN connection is seemingly turned off. If applicable, the resolution is usually simple; if installed, you may need to remove the Security App and/or VPN from the device.

If this resolves your issue, the VPN and/or security App can be reinstated after the connectivity problem has been resolved.

If some Apps are working as expected, while others are not - or other devices can connect to your WiFi network - you may find that a restart of your WiFi Router, followed by a restart of your iPad will clear the problem….

To restart your router, disconnect power from the router for at least 30 seconds - then reconnect power to restart. After your router reboots (which may take several minutes), force restart your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Same here. Mine was working fine until 5/30 when I tried to open it I just saw a black screen with a slim menue down the left side of the screen. Cleared my cache, rebooted etc and nothing. I tried deleting the APP and reinstalling it and now I just get the never ending circle with the message "logging you in" .
And facebook wants to start charging? I think not.

In case you missed this...

For those users struggling with this issue - try physically rotating the iPad from Landscape orientation to Portrait - then launch the Facebook App in Portrait orientation. The Facebook App should launch normally.

After Facebook is running normally, you can rotate the iPad back to Landscape orientation if preferred.

AI tools frequently are poor source of information - as AI will simply serve-up bad or incorrect information previously posted by others.

Again, in case you haven't read recent posts within this thread...

Unacceptable. When is Apple and/or Facebook going to fix the problem?

Apple won't, it is not there app and they could not update it to fix the bug that Meta introduced in a recent update.

Meta can update Facebook to fix the problem and there was a version released 16 hours ago, so try that one to see if they resolved the bug, and hopefully did not introduce more bugs like they have before. The Meta problems with bugs in their apps is not new and has gone on for years. It is apparent very little in-house testing is being performed when they have released 9 updates to Facebook in just the last month, so their users end up being the bug testers.

Thank you! This definitely worked for me, I was getting so annoyed! Apple needs to get it together!!

It is the new version that Meta issued yesterday that resolved the problem that they initially caused with the previous update preventing login.

As you have seen, the user you replied to also had the issue resolved after they installed the latest update, even though it took until that afternoon for their server to recognize login with that version. The previously reported workarounds until that new version was released were only temporary workarounds that would continue to fail the next time a login was attempted.

Not an Apple issue at all or one they could even resolve if they wanted to. The Developers are responsible for their own apps and the support for the customers that use their apps.

Your iPad indicates that it must be restored:

If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

You’ll need access to either a Windows PC (with iTunes for Windows installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of macOS).

Download and use iTunes for Windows – Apple Support

Update to the latest version of iTunes – Apple Support

Use of a PC or Mac computer is unavoidable. If you don’t have access to a suitable computer of your own, that of a helpful friend or family member will suffice. Alternatively, the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will be delighted to assist.

Facebook app not loading on iPad. Log in just keeps circling. Can access FB on iPhone and browser. Driving me crazy…. Help!!!

As you can see, you're not alone. That is not a problem Apple can fix and the solution will need to come from Meta. That is not the first time the issue has occurred with Facebook on the iPad, and even has happened less frequently on the iPhone, and eventually Meta provides an update to fix it. Let them know you are not happy with their app and expect better.

My fb screen on my iPad is black suddenly. I’ve cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled app and it works a few times and then is black again! Works just fine on my iPhone (same update) and online! What in the heck is going on??? Is it FB or the most recent iOS 26.5 update :(

It is Facebook and reported by others on the iPad who are not even using 26.5. Report the issue to Meta and wait for them to provide another update.

Mine just started doing that today.

Then your iPad just updated to the latest Facebook version for the iPad where everyone is experiencing the same thing and will only be resolved when Meta sends out another update to fix the problem. If this is the first time this has happened to you with a Facebook update, you should consider yourself very lucky as it is a common occurrence, with a long history of bugs being introduced that Meta did not resolve before releasing the update.

I wouldn't expect that their customer support will get any better with the layoff announcement of 8,000 employees or 10% of their workforce to further invest in AI. It is also not helpful that they don't offer any sort of Community Forum such as this for their users to discuss problems with their apps. That seems to be an intentional decision on their part.
