If you have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security/AV/firewall App such as Norton, these may be interfering with your iPad's network stack - even if the VPN connection is seemingly turned off. If applicable, the resolution is usually simple; if installed, you may need to remove the Security App and/or VPN from the device.
If this resolves your issue, the VPN and/or security App can be reinstated after the connectivity problem has been resolved.
If some Apps are working as expected, while others are not - or other devices can connect to your WiFi network - you may find that a restart of your WiFi Router, followed by a restart of your iPad will clear the problem….
To restart your router, disconnect power from the router for at least 30 seconds - then reconnect power to restart. After your router reboots (which may take several minutes), force restart your iPad:
Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)
If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:
Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)
Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Mine just started doing that today.
Then your iPad just updated to the latest Facebook version for the iPad where everyone is experiencing the same thing and will only be resolved when Meta sends out another update to fix the problem. If this is the first time this has happened to you with a Facebook update, you should consider yourself very lucky as it is a common occurrence, with a long history of bugs being introduced that Meta did not resolve before releasing the update.
I wouldn't expect that their customer support will get any better with the layoff announcement of 8,000 employees or 10% of their workforce to further invest in AI. It is also not helpful that they don't offer any sort of Community Forum such as this for their users to discuss problems with their apps. That seems to be an intentional decision on their part.
It is likely "not" the IOS version. I have the old IPad Pro (10.5 in.), and hence have no ability to update the IOS version. So... the "only" thing to have changed is the Facebook version via their update to v563.0.0
This is a Facebook problem; which is what happens when you fire mass amounts of employees and rely on the "Agile" methodology.
yes. I tried it that way too. It worked,i guess the same thing as putting it in airplane mode. It shuts the WiFi off.

Has anybody fixed this yet ?
The fix will have to come from Meta and so far they have not provided any updates to their app beyond the one 3 days ago where the bug was introduced causing the app to fail on the iPad.

My Facebook on iPad does not work since last update! Are you going to fix???
You are not speaking to Meta here, and a bug in Facebook is certainly not something that Apple can resolve. If this is the first time you have experienced a bug in a Facebook update, you should consider yourself very lucky as it is quite common. With Meta providing 9 updates to Facebook in just the last month it is apparent very little in-house testing is being done and the users of the app are actually the bug testers, and responsible for reporting the problems to Meta.
In the meantime access to Facebook is still able to be done using a web browser.

Thank you for posting this, I was already in portrait and having the same issues on my iPad so I thought I’d do as you suggested but start in landscape instead, success, I did everything else exactly as you suggested, hopefully this will help others too.
You are very welcome.
Physically rotating the iPad between Landscape and Portrait orientation, or vide versa, will often clear a screen rendering issue.
After 4 days this router shutdown fix finally worked for me
Meta has always had a problem with bugs in their software. Specifically for Facebook, there have been 9 updates in just the last month with the most recent one being yesterday. It is apparent that very little in-house testing is being done before each update and it is their users that are the bug testers. With the recent layoffs and shift to more AI functions, I don't see where that is going to get much better and their support has always been terrible.
Meta also does not offer a Community Forum such as this where their users can discuss issues using their software, and not sure if that is an intentional decision on their part. In any case, support for apps is always between the user and the developer. It is the users choice whether they want to use an app or not and the Developers responsibility to support those users.
If this is the first time experiencing trouble with a Meta app, consider yourself very lucky and as always there will be an update that resolves a problem with a bug in a previous update. That is the same cycle we have always seen.
The Facebook app for iPad is frequently broken. I admin several large Facebook groups and FB allows me access to special admin groups and support etc. FB knows there’s a lot broken in the app. iPad support has always been second rate, they know it, but basically aren’t expending a lot of resources to fix it. It’s just not where FB’s priorities currently lie.

Here it is June 21 2026 and it still doesn’t work on my iPad Pro . Guess they don’t want us to see Facebook on it.
Facebook frequently has bugs that causes crashes/login issues and as you can see here and in many other posts that at times it will work and other times it won't. With Facebook being updated 10 times in just the last month, it is apparent that very little in-house testing is being performed and the users are the bug testers. With that average it could work on one day and 3 days later following another update it may not.
Question for Jeff: Are any of the Facebook groups that you admin at available to users where they can discuss these issues? Not sure if a link would be allowed here, but it would be helpful to users to monitor a group such as that where these bugs are reported and can be alerted when they are resolved, or maybe even the progress on bug resolution.
I have 2 iPads that are doing the samething. Mine started on May 14th before I did iOS updates. After I did the new update it did not help. My iPhone facebook app (new update) works just fine. I believe this is a facebook issue. I will continue to report the problem to facebook everyday till they fix it.

I followed every suggestion above and got no where. When Facebook updated their app, same results. the update to 26.5 fixed the problem.
Huh? Your initial post indicated you were using iPad OS 26.5 and were experiencing the problem. Other iPad users have reported the same problem with the Facebook update no matter what iPad OS version they were using. Even the last Facebook version released 4 days ago has been confirmed here that it did not resolve the problem on the iPad. Is it now resolved for you?
Hi. The next logical step would be to contact FB. There are times when many apps are behind in their updates which results in a problem for you.
We were able to get into Facebook using Google Chrome.
Working again for me. Nothing changed, no update, but clicked on a link to an FB article online and the app started up.
