What year model is your iMac..?

The ability to upgrade the macOS versions depends on the year model of the iMac.

for some examples:

If you have a 2015 iMac, it can only run up to macOS 12 Monterey.

If you have a 2017 iMac, it can run up to macOS 13 Ventura.

If you have a 2019 iMac, it can run macOS 15 Sequoia.
