How would Motion run on my Mini?

I ran Motion a LONG time ago (20+ years) and it was great.

I picked the current version of Motion up in 2023, and it ran so poorly on my iMac (27″ 5K, 40gb ram) I returned it.

Last year I bought a Mini (M4 Pro, 48gb ram) - I'd like to try it again, but don't want to run into the same issues. I see it's been updated recently, so I guess there's hope :)

Anyone running it on a similar machine?

Any issues to be aware of?

thanks!

Any of the M-series chips will run Motion just fine. I'm on an M1 Pro Max MBP and have no issues with Motion's performance. But I've used Motion since Apple first released it under their name, and I'm just used to its quirks and its normal performance issues. FYI, that's an awful lot of RAM. I'm just curious why so much?

Remember that Motion has always been a resource hog and the more you add to a project, the slower it'll run, just the facts of life. Apple shows Motion and Compressor very little love.

Thanks - the RAM is because I'm often editing large InDesign docs with many attachments, while at the same time keeping Photoshop and Illustrator open, as well as other things. Before ordering the Mini I watched my RAM use on my iMac, and it did get up there. I like to keep some overhead.

I also use Blender as well as some other music/video apps, and also find even having a bunch of browser windows open at the same time eats up a bunch of RAM.
