If you turn off iCloud sync on your phone, you can safely delete picture on your phone without also delete ING on other synced devices.
As long as both your phone and your Mac are connected to iCloud Photos at iCloud.com, then those three Photos Libraries will be exactly the same.
If you disconnect the phone from iCloud Photos, then what you do in Photos on one of them will not affect the other. So if you disconnect the phone from iCloud Photos, then when you take a picture it will not be automatically copied to iCloud.com and to your Mac. When you edit a picture on the Mac, the picture will not change on the phone. If you reconnect the phone, then Photos will again make the three Libraries exactly the same, copying any pictures it sees to all the other devices. This might cause problems if there isn't enough room on one of the devices.
What are you really trying to do? Are you trying save space? Are you using Optimize Storage? We might have ideas if you tell us:
Or are you just not wanting to see some of your pictures on your phone, but you don't want to lose them? My Library that I share with my phone has only my Favorites, and I have other pictures in another Library on my Mac that doesn't connect to iCloud.
Let us know what you really need, and we can probably help…
Thank you. That’s what I thought, but I didn’t want to try it and then lose everything.
thankz for the reply.
Hi,
I synced the original photos, then turned iCloud off.
I don’t need to free up space, I just don’t like having all of my pictures in my phone.
thank you for your help.
