Problem updating 365 excel for Mac on macOS Monterey.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.7

That is correct. Microsoft does not provide the latest updates of Excel for Macs running Monterey. (If you are not already a Microsoft 365 or Office customer, you will need Sonoma or later to even install Excel at all.)


Microsoft Support – Upgrade macOS to continue receiving Microsoft 365 and Office for Mac updates


If your iMac is old enough that it cannot run anything later than Monterey, your choices are to use an old version of Excel (if you have one), to buy a new computer, or to do without Excel in favor of some other spreadsheet program.
