MacBook Pro M4 Pro: High repair for screen and dent

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding a damaged MacBook Pro and whether it makes sense to repair it through Apple or a third-party service.

I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) that I purchased in August 2025, so it’s less than a year old and the standard warranty expires in August 2026.

A few days ago, the laptop suddenly stopped working properly. Other than that theres a-

  • Small crack on the screen
  • Vertical lines across the display
  • Screen goes black after a few seconds
  • Small dent on the top lid/casing

The laptop otherwise appears to power on normally.

I took it to Apple, who sent it to their repair center. I’ve now received a repair estimate of approximately ₹1,00,000+. When I initially visited the store, I was told that a display-only replacement might be around ₹60,000, so I’m currently trying to understand why the estimate is significantly higher and whether additional parts are being included.

On top of that apple isn't connecting me to their customer care and i am not able to receive any clarification.

  1. Is it common for Apple to quote ₹1 lakh when the visible damage seems limited to the display and a minor dent?

  1. Has anyone successfully requested a display-only replacement from Apple instead of replacing additional cosmetic parts?

Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. This laptop is my primary work machine, so I’m trying to make the most sensible long-term decision.

Thank you.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.4

Accidental damage is not covered under warranty ie your screen crack

AppleCare+ covers a portion of accidental damage— if you have it in your country(?)

Why the Price?

Apple is seeing this as accidental damage --something standard warranty does not cover. AppleCare+ covers this, but with a less fee. Prices for service is at Apple's discretion.

About MY Service:

As for experiences, my 2017 MBP's screen went black 11 times. After they serviced it, they saw that I was on the phone for over 100 hours --as a result --they gave me a free upgrade, for no more than the price of AppleCare+. Apple saw it as a faulty device. During all that troubleshooting, I screenshared my iPhone with Apple, while on speakerphone with the Camera opened; in doing so, all was recording, and they had something to go by --it was on them --not me.
