MacBook Air M4 Freezing

I have a MacBook Air M4 running Tahoe 26.5.1 and when I'm working in Pages my laptop freezes for about ten to fifteen seconds. Sometimes the cursor will switch to the multicolored spinning circle. Anywhere from three to five minutes will pass before it happens again. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? I can't say for certain if this happened after installing Tahoe, but I don't remember it happening on the previous software.
