How to combine data from two Numbers sheets

I have a sheet in Numbers with about 30 entries in a column and a different Numbers sheet with about 20 in a column - how do I move or join one of the sheets [columns] to the other? I have tried to copy the 20 items and paste into the other Numbers spreadsheet and it basically blocks everything - no data and no lines either.

I am on Tahoe on a Studio and latest Numbers version. Thanks.

It sounds like you're dealing with a single column in both sheets, right?

In that case, in the sheet that you want to copy FROM, click the column header to select all the cells in the column, then choose Edit -> Copy (Command-C)

Then in the sheet that you want to paste into, scroll to the bottom of the sheet. If there is a blank cell at the bottom, click it once. If there's no blank cell, click the last cell in the column, then press Return to create a new row.

With the last cell in the table selected, use Edit -> Paste (Command-V). Since you're at the bottom of the table, Numbers will automatically expand the table to incorporate the new data.

I MAY have figured it out = don't know why Paste whites out the column & row BUT if you copy the data in the column from sheet 2 and the "Paste and Match Style" it does work!! The white out disappears and the data comes in the same as it was on that sheet [Times New Roman font 10pt] and data copies over exactly.

Weird: I created a new spreadsheet and copied the old column with both bits of data and did a test == did a plain old Paste = and it pasted everything just as formatted in the copied column - did not need to match style this time!!

Thanks for your assistance - I guess I still would like to know why plain old Paste doesn't work the way I thought it used to.

Unfortunately that screenshot doesn't tell me much, because I don't know what it looked like before the paste, nor the format of the source data you're trying to paste in.

What it sounds like is that the data is there (based on the fact you click on the cell and can see the value in the status bar), which makes me think this just might be a formatting issue... for example, if the source text was white.. pasted into a white-background cell, that would render the text invisible, but still present. Did you try changing the cell's text format?

Without seeing more it's hard to see what else might be amiss.

Thanks much -- I've been trying that but let me show you the resultant screen shot == the data is there [I click on a row - #57 - and the name appears down below in the Text at the bottom of the Numbers page -- but all the lines are gone and no data shows up in the rows...I was doing just as you suggested [Copy and then Paste]. for some reason when I copy paste it evidently still has the data there [that surprised me - I thought everything was wiped out] but there's all that white space and no lines == in other words it's no longer a table - thanks for your help.

your comment was a help in the sense that the info in the A column was in a column with the darker color fill and might be different from the data I was trying to add --so I copied the A column info into the B [white fill] data column and they all showed up fine = then I copied and pasted into the lower batch of column B under the original ones I'd moved over and it did the same thing = the names are there [they do appear in the Text row at the bottom but are whited out and if I click on the blank space it does fill in an email To for me == I checked and Gridlines is accented under Table for both A & B - I went under Table, Cell and Text in Numbers and made sure the format for column A was the same as B and it is == appreciate your help - I'll keep playing with it and hoping to discover the answer.
