Let’s be honest: iOS 26.5.2 is a battery hog. And I’m tired of constantly reading the same nonsense about post-update indexing.
First, minor updates like this don’t trigger a complete reindexing of every single item on the phone. Second, even if they did, the phone should be fully optimized after 48 hours.
What’s been happening since updating to iOS 26.5.2 is terrible. My iPhone Air has 100% battery health and, until now, had excellent battery life. Since the update, its power consumption has increased dramatically.
And it’s not just a feeling — Adaptive Power Mode has started kicking in frequently. Previously, it activated maybe once or twice a month, for example when I was editing videos or doing something genuinely demanding. Since installing iOS 26.5.2, it has been activating almost every day — even though it’s already been a week since the update — during basic activities like scrolling through Instagram.
So clearly, something is wrong with the system.
