Looking to purchase an iPad I used from work but I want to make sure it is not still connected to the School Enterprise. Where can I go to check that? I was told by the school it was cleared but don't want to get burned later and have a device I cannot use.

Usually Settings ➜ General ➜ VPN & Device Management.
Make sure there is no School profile there.
You will also want to restore it to factory settings and set it up again to remove any remaining School data from it.

If it has not been released from the School Device Management platform it won't let you set it up again without being logged into the Schools MDM.
