Account Password Reset Problems
There must be somebody that can help speed up account password reset?
OK, here's the story:
I woke up one morning to a bunch of notifications saying somebody was trying to access my account, so I immediately changed my password. then forgot about it for a few months
Last Tuesday I needed to reset my settings, as notification sounds weren't coming through for a specific WhatsApp contact. So i did that, and it wiped my password.
Started the password reset process last Tuesday. Had to wait 24 hours for an email telling me that the account would be ready for recover at around 12 on Saturday
As I don't have any other Apple devices and one of the options to reset was to go to the Apple store, I got a taxi to my nearest Apple store at around 15:30.
Spent an hour and a half there, both with the people in the store, and with Apple on the phone.
They couldn't do it. And actually, somehow they messed it up so much that the process started again. Over the phone I was told that it would take another 24 hours.
24 hours later, on Sunday, I had another email, telling me that the recovery would be ready today (Tuesday) just before 16:00
At 16:00 I had a colleague try the process again, and there's a message saying that there's not enough information, and it could take a few more days.
This is really unacceptable. It's my phone. I can still use it with my passcode and face ID.
But since last Tuesday, I've not been able to add any of my access cards nor my credit cards
Which means that I have trouble getting into my apartment, and also my office. I've also wasted time and money going to the Apple store, only for them to mess the whole thing up and start the process again.
But here's the thing: It's my phone. Apple says that it needs the time to see when my iphone talks to the Apple servers to analyse patterns to see if it really is my phone. And guess what? I haven't done anything different, I still go home to the same apartment every night, I still go to the office every day.
By the way, I have also given them the correct information from my debit card that I used in Apple pay.
I can also use the phone normally, I can also sign into my Apple account on the internet (hence how I'm able to post this) because I can log in using the passkey from my phone.
Yet Apple still need proof that I'm me. Honestly, this could have been sorted out in five minutes in an Apple store with my government-issued ID. Instead, I have to go through a never-ending Kafkaesque nightmare, buy a new transport card, wait until other people arrive into my office building so that I can get let in, and spend 20 minutes arguing with my building management every time I want to get let back into my own building.
