When Macintosh HD is added to the Spotlight Privacy list, macOS cannot index the drive. This breaks the storage menu, leaving the application list empty or showing incorrect data (like Safari at "Zero KB").

  • 1. Go to System Settings > Spotlight.
  • 2. Click Search Privacy... at the bottom right.
  • 3. Select Macintosh HD and click the minus (–) button to remove it.
  • 4. Click Done.

Once removed, macOS re-indexes the drive in the background. After a short time, your applications (like DaVinci Resolve, Affinity, etc.) and their correct file sizes will reappear perfectly.
