Can I use a SanDisk flash drive with an iPhone 17 using a USB-C adapter?

I had an iPhone 13 and upgraded to an iPhone 17. I used a SanDisk flash drive to back up my photos. The issue is I can't use the flash drive to plug into my new phone because it is a usbc. Is there an adapter I could use to be able to use the flash drive?

Apple does make an adapter (29.95 USD), but numerous devices are available on sites like Amazon too. The issue is some are designed exclusively for power/battery charging and others are designed to also handle data. But there are numerous reports of the data versions corrupting the data when transferred etc. Personally, if your photos are important to you, spend a few dollars and get the right storage device, a flash drive that supports USB-C.
