MacBook Air M2 battery drains completely while idle

I am experiencing an abnormal battery drain issue on my MacBook Air M2, and I'm hoping to get some insights.

The battery efficiency is 100% and as you can see from the attached screenshot of my battery graph, my battery completely drained from nearly full to 0% in a matter of hours, even though the Screen On Usage is practically zero.

I just got this Mac last December and I am concerned about battery performance.

That model was discontinued prior to your purchase date. If a 13-inch it was superseded on March 2025. If the 15-inch version the dat eif Marc 2024. Did you buy as an Apple-direct refurb or used from a third party? All batteries start to age when they come off the assembly line, not when first used.

In System Settings > General > About, what does "coverage date" show?

I ask because if the battery had been replaced with a non-Apple battery, those never have performed well.

If you are convinced this is all-original, the next thing on the supect list is unneeded aftermarket "security" and "maintenance" software. Many of these work overtime conflicting with protection Apple builds into its OS. They can adversely affect rate of battery charge depletion.

If you are not sure what aftermarket utilities are installed, we can help find any known bad actors if you post a system config report. Fortunatelly, there is a safe, secure way to handle that here.

If you want a data-driven evaluation in this setting where we can neither see nor touch your computer, please post an EtreCheck report. We can quickly and within the limitations of these forums help you determine what issues are at play without our playing a protracted game of "20 Questions" with you that could go on for days.

The free version will do nicely for this purpose, although the app is worthy of our financial support.

We can see hard data about drive performance, software issues and interferences, and RAM usage. Etrecheck is the development of a long-serving and trusted ASC contributor. NOTE: Please post the entire report unedited. There are subtle mentions there that may seem trivial to a new EtreCheck user, but can speak volumes to those of us who have evaluated thousands of EtreCheck reports.
