How can I cancel an unpaid subscription

My annual Picsart Premium subscription was renewed automatically without my intention. I was not aware that auto-renewal was enabled, and I do not want this subscription. There were not enough funds on my card, so the payment could not be completed. As a result, I now have an unpaid balance on my Apple account, which prevents me from downloading or updating apps, even after getting a new bank card.

I cannot request a refund because the payment has not been completed yet. To be eligible for a refund request, I would first have to pay for the subscription, but I do not want to pay such a large amount only to hope that my refund request will be approved afterward.

Sorry, but you will have to pay for the subscription first, before you can request a refund, as far as I know, there is no way around that.

...

  • If the charge is pending, you canʼt request a refund yet. After you receive an email receipt, try to request a refund again.
  • If you have an unpaid order, you need to pay for that order before you request a refund. You might need to update your payment information.

Welcome and thank you for reaching out. 🤗

It seems you may need to contact Apple Support directly, but first, you need to complete your obligation by paying the full amount, then learn how to → cancel a subscription.

Then click ▶︎ Request a Refund.

NOTE: Refunds are not guaranteed, they are the exception.

According to Apple:

If your refund is approved, the funds are applied to the same payment method that you used to buy the item.

Here's how long it takes for a refund to appear on your account or statement:

Store credit—It might take up to 48 hours to see the refund in your Apple Account balance.

Mobile phone billing—It might take up to 60 days for the statement to show the refund. Processing time might be affected by your carrier. You can contact your carrier for an update.

Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and all other payment methods—It might take up to 30 days for the statement to show the refund. If you don't see the refund after 30 days, contact your financial institution.

Note: Once a decision has been made on your refund request, you will get a follow up email from Apple.

Click ▶︎ Check Refund Status.

Final Note: I have written a detailed user-tip on this subject that goes into greater detail. See ▶︎ Request A Refund for more.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉
