"mediaanalysisd" & "mediaanalysisd-access" high CPU after Sequoia upgrade

"mediaanalysisd" and "mediaanalysisd-access" persistently high CPU usage in idle mode.

When I leave my MacBook idle for a long time, I find it excessively hot, and the processes I mentioned were running in the background.

user@mac public % ps -eo pid,pcpu,pcpu,time,comm | grep -i mediaanalysis

 1134   0.0   0.0 5645:12.38 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MediaAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/mediaanalysisd
22477   0.0   0.0 250:23.97 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MediaAnalysisAccess.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/mediaanalysisd-access.xpc/Contents/MacOS/mediaanalysisd-access

user@mac public % uptime
18:24  up 8 days, 19:28, 7 users, load averages: 3.49 2.35 2.06

Based on suggestions from others who have experienced similar problems, I cleared the cache files of the processes in question and restarted the machine, but the problem persists.

I'm using macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 on a MacBook Pro 13″ M1 2020. I didn't have this type of problem before upgrading from Sonoma to Sequoia. My personal files and usage patterns are exactly the same.

I'm open to understanding the cause of the problem and suggestions for solutions.

It looks like your Mac is having trouble accessing or sorting some type of media, but it's hard to tell from that report. If you have media stored on external drives, the cloud or some other location, then that could be causing a problem. Plus it looks like that Mac has not been Shutdown and Started or Restarted in 8 days.

1) Restart the Mac in Safe Mode and let it sit for at least 10 minutes, then restart normally.

2) Rebuild the Spotlight indexing and let it sit until Spotlight has finished indexing.
