Apple TV 4K lacks proper resolution and refresh rate support, especially for 1440p

Why is Apple TV 4K pretty much only supporting 4K TVs as their device? What was the point of adding 1440p resolution to include support for monitors if, for completely no reason, it does not support frame rate and content matching?

Also, the way the resolutions are treated in Apple TV 4K is pretty bad for a supposedly premium device. You should choose resolution, then choose your refresh rate(probably the highest supported for most people, which could be as high as 540 Hz these days). The frame rate and content matching is in no way tied to resolution of image, so who decided to create this fake limitation that I can not have what I want at 1440p resolution?

Why I can not have 50 Hz content refreshed at 200 Hz for lower sample and hold effect? The technique is as old as cinema - 24 FPS movies are projected at minimum of 72 Hz. Why not do the same with a premium TV Box?

Any potential refresh rate upsampling can be done by the display device; no need to do that at the media player level, and send unnecessary data over HDMI. 50 (PAL) or 60 Hz (NTSC) is enough, as commercial streaming services are almost always 23.976 (24), 25 or 29.97 (30) fps; some specialty programming (sports) can be 60 fps, but nothing beyond that.

Frame rate content matching would reduce the frame rate over HDMI, to 23.976 (24), 25 or 29.97 (30) Hz, overruling the chosen 50 or 60 Hz.

Frame rate and dynamic range and chroma subsampling are tied to resolution by the bandwidth of the HDMI connection. For display devices with HDMI 2.0 ports, the limit is 18 Gbps (14.4 of actual AV data) uncompressed. For display devices with HDMI 2.1 ports, the limit is 48 Gbps (42.0 of AV actual data). Devices can be implemented with a lower limit than the HDMI spec allows for, i.e. some HDMI 2.1 ports on TVs might have a limit between HDMI 2.0 and the maximum for HDMI 2.1.

E.g.: 60 Hz, HDR10, 4:4:4 chroma, 4K would require 15.68 Gbps. Too much for HDMI 2.0, unless you specify 4:2:0 chroma instead, which is fine, as streaming video is always 4:2:0 at the source. Or when a lower frame rate (≤30 Hz) is supported through content matching.
