Unable to update payment method

You can’t update or add a payment method if your account has unpaid balances, a pending purchase or a region mismatch.

Make sure your billing address matches your region, clear any pending charges and try again.

Check your payment method in Settings ➢ [your name] ➢ Payment & Shipping, ensure it’s valid and update if needed. Also, sign out and back into your Apple Account, then try again.

If it still fails, contact Apple Support directly.

Can you give us more details, maybe error messages given?

There are a few things to remember, before you can change your payment method.

For example, the old payment method can only be removed after you have added the new payment method, especially if there are ongoing subscriptions.

You can also use Apple Gift Cards, if available in your region, to top up your Apple Account balance, which will then be used first by Apple to pay for your bills:
