Tahoe 26.6 / Safari : cmd-D crashes every time (ever since the first update to 26)

MacOS Tahoe 26.6

Ever since updating to Tahoe last year, Safari consistently crashes upon using cmd-D to add a bookmark. Adding a bookmark via the top bar menu occasionally works, but frequently just does...nothing. No menu, no bookmark.

I've force-quit and restarted Safari countless times as well as rebooted. Upon updating to 26.6 today, I hoped this bug would be gone, but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas out there?

sorry, I have no issues using command-D to create new bookmarks.

so I need to ask. are you using any apps that claim to "clean up" or "speed up" or otherwise "optimize" your Mac? and / or any antivirus apps? the only thing those apps are good for is causing major issues within macOS while providing ZERO protection or benefit. you would do well to uninstall them.

if you have no such apps, i'm thinking you should download and run the free version of EtreCheck so we can see if you have some software installed that is causing your issue. make sure you give "full disk access" to etrecheck. Learn how to use it by reading Using EtreCheck. if you need help interpreting the report, you can see how to post the report here by reading How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report. and it automatically obscures sensitive things (like serial numbers) so you don't have to worry about sharing the report here.

So, turned off all extensions (only 1Blocker), removed Safari prefs, rebooted, all no luck.

What it appears like now is that, if I enter a URL manually in the address bar, cmd-D works as expected. Selecting any site from my bookmarks, all good. But selecting any site from a tab group, whether pinned or not, leads to a crash. Weird. This all works fine on my wife's nearly identical MacBook Air.

Happy to paste in the crash log if anyone is interested.
