Two different hearing aids cannot share an Apple ID

That sharing all works already, and has for a while.

There are NO pros. Only cons. Apple is very clear about that. Among the cons:

The Recent phone call list is the same on both phones

If contacts are added or deleted they are deleted on both phones

Either party can see all of the other’s texts and email -Makes surprise gifts impossible, for example

Backups to iCloud can’t distinguish between the phones

All photos exist on both devices, and editing or deleting a photo deletes on both phones

As you discovered, you can have only one hearing aid between the 2 phones

Passwords are replicated on both phones

Browser cookies are the same on both phones

Bookmarks are the same on both phones

So, you will never be able to keep anything secret from each other. If your relationship is that strong you are an exceptional couple.

Voicemail is merged.

• Notifications and two-factor authentication messages can and variously will be misrouted.

• Anyone sharing the account can erase any others’ data and brick any others’ phone, whether accidentally or intentionally.

• Focus and do-not-disturb settings get shared.

Call logs are also merged, if I recall correctly.
