Access Contact Card in Calendar without INVITES - any way?

is there a way.... add contact card to calendar event without sending invite.

MULTIPLE use (exploding issue) cases...

First - I have busy days - with SOFT meeting times (think time slots, due to prior claim) - thereby sending an invite with FIRM times is completely asking for trouble. He said between x and y, but then sent me an invite with the firm time of X and then didn't show on-time...

Second - I do billing and time allocations on the calendar - certainly do not think anyone wants to get an invite to this: "Fire chief review; Sharon station 26" - especially when it has information that should NOT be shared with the claimant in the calendar listing. Worse, if I edit the original entry from say 11am to 130pm - and then edit for actual; say 1125a-215p - I'd assume it would update the invitee - again, just asking for trouble - especially since this includes the time I'm working on the project - but I may drive away and spend an hour or two reviewing and writing reports/labeling photos away from the business/residence... It would be great to get a call "Hey, why are you claiming to have been here for 3 hours when you left an hour and fifteen minutes later - this looks like fraud"...

Third - I get 300 emails a day now - I don't need more, and my poor clients are bombarded with AI slop from the carriers and administrators already ***- they most certainly do not need another from my calendar - especially when it doesn't do time slots nicely...

I assume you can see why this is an issue. I have 24,000 contacts - every person I see (couple a day) gets entered when received - thereby if they ever call - they are amazed I answer the phone - 'hello Mr Jones'...

Before anyone jumps on the use SIRI - I drive >100K per year - in a pickup truck with ladders and equipment - its NOT a quiet environment - and SIRI has issues once you get to about 2000 contacts. Pulling off to the side of the road is NOT an option - some of these calls are >20 mins and I'm on a tight schedule. Thereby I prefer to receive my assignment - create a contact card, drag the mail to the calendar and create a time slot, then somehow add the contact card to the calendar listing... Then I'm in the Calendar app while driving - it's simple. I have a daily summary NOTES with a IFTTT which allows posting post call easily.

I certainly hope Apple - in its transition to more business oriented - can see the value of ALLOWING a user to turn off automated features like the invite - as for me it's a deal breaker.

If anyone knows a way to add the card easily (drop and drag always preferred - often on iPad Pro or even the phone) - would be appreciated.

Topic is covered in the threads of the support about once a year - so figured I'd see if there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon?

What you want to do cannot be done using Apple's Calendar and Contacts apps. They are not, as MrHoffman stated, intended for your sort of use case. Apple has shown no sign of wanting to get into the CRM market. MrHoffman isn't suggesting some "little app developer." This is actually a fairly large market with many very reputable companies providing services and cross-platform apps. While I'm sure Apple would be please to know that you are the only company you trust with your data, there are other reputable companies out there.

You can always let Apple know your thoughts here:

Meanwhile, copy and paste the contact information in the notes field in the calendar events.

You’ll want to research an app or service (more) appropriate for the scale and scope and requirements here. You’re well past what the Apple apps are usually intended for.

Customer relationship managers (CRM apps) are one path here, as can be a call-handing and response service such as Twilio.

You’ll also want to research something that is hands-free, lest a vehicular collision or a ticket (where hands-free is required) add more scheduling contention.

Another APP is a BAD idea - why - today I key in the phone number into the calendar - I'm just hoping that while apple transitions in this direction they may allow for some simplified controls... Another APP - I can house 20-30 thousand records that have some rather personal information on it - that is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I trust apple - I do not trust some *** little app developer.

Further - you start adding apps and saving information in multiple apps - then your entire phone, iPad, Mac, and everything else gets seized during discovery... Using built in apps protects from this - as its a function of more than just work - its also personal - and an attorney must prove to a judge that the need to grab all your stuff will not affect your PERSONAL life. Shared calendars are a STOP to that - a private app would open to surrender of everything in the app, let alone the device. Today, no judge (at my pittance level) lets anyone take my phone because my Childs schedule is on my calendar, all kinds of sensitive data from business and personal is housed in APPLE apps, etc... The second you house that outside the native apps - you are inviting intrusion to your data via the app, let alone loosing use of it during the trial. Been there, done that, will never again.

I know its a DUMB ask - but its something I'd love a work-around or something of the like (I'm OK with blocking ALL invites)...

Thanx anyways - always appreciate answers - but wanted to make clear why that is not an option.

I do not need automation beyond just having the phone number in the calendar (ideally by dragging from contacts)... No-one outside of APPLE can have access to the records, period.

Yep. Exactly. CRMs are a huge market, and they particularly help when additional people become involved with increasing numbers of customers; each staffer can have the complete context associated with that customer.

One I prototyped a while back was SugarCRM.

Other options can include using an answering service to triage the calls and handle adding contacts, given the reported call volume.

As for businesses, mail is a spectacularly excellent choice for burying important business and customer information across disparate mail files, too. One of my favorite ways to hinder business activities.

Hands-free is required around here, too.

My field and needs are a bit different. I built a series of linked Notion databases to keep my tasks and meetings connected not only to specific contacts but also to specific grant proposals. I'm not saying that my system would work for the OP, but that sometimes you have be a little creative. Find the tools that work. Don't try to make tools do things they can't do.

Two things... 20 yrs at the card associations (V/MC) - this is a second career - thereby no app will ever receive anyones information. I've seen the worst of the worst and how even those who mean to be good at securing, simply are outmanned. Second - all I am trying to do is automate the entry of a contact phone number for an appointment - this isn't rocket science. I do not need a CRM (btw - one of the worst of the bunch when it comes to security) - I need to be able to be driving and simply tap the screen to call (as the calendar app is displayed in the center stack of whatever rental I'm in). Today, I accomplish this with adding it manually. The idea that a CRM (entering possibly your information - which often comes with a full background check, into some random app run by some struggling group, who wouldn't report a breach if their life depended on it, let alone even know it happened - just not a good idea)... I need no further function - nothing at all. Funny tale - one of the better security outfits in the V/MC realm used to hack YOUR SalesForce in their demo - and they were sales people, who some technut trained them. Furthermore - I'd argue that the majority of us do not do INVITES. I have had C level at a carrier screaming at me over not replying to an invite and my response is simple. You PAY me to be here - unless you want billed to keep your minions organized - then simply count on me being here, or pay someone else. INVITES are dumb, period, that is why when a real head count, counts, its registrations... Perhaps I'm misguided that the future of Apple does/will involve business not just personal - and that's OK if you feel that way. Just a contact number from my contacts into a calendar event (apple) without sending a DUMB invite. Last notation for a CRM - I'm deposed regularly and the built in apps on apple are considered work product. Using a CRM would open it to discovery - as its no longer guaranteed work product but possibly a 3rd party. Apple & iOS are not viewed as third party - it's viewed as a part of your device. Any app by a 3rd party is viewed as 3rd party (and fully discoverable). Way too far in the weeds here - just want an easier way to put a contact number in the calendar event (ideally from contacts). And no comment on the hands-free. Each state has their own interpretation of what constitutes hands free. More worrisome is the VARIETY (skill) of drivers out there - spoken from one who regularly get data feeds read from vehicle collisions...

So… Seemingly headed for both call-handling admin help, and for IT infrastructure, server, networking, and security help.

Hardware tokens and advanced data protection likely enabled (if hosted), or quite possibly all hosted locally with some available options (that can be audited and isolated at the perimeter and applicable intermediate routers).

You can send your invite-related feedback to Apple: Product Feedback - Apple

TL;DR: inferring (much) from what was posted here, this is seemingly all approaching the limit of the current tooling, staffing, and IT. Which can be a good problem, but a problem nonetheless.

I left the responsible realm of having to comprehend techno-speak in late 2019, so you are way over my head.

It's OK to tell me to just cut and paste.

Third party is out - if I have a file on your for SIU, I have your SSN, your bank history and accounts, your criminal and civil court history, your family tree and known associates, your major purchases, a listing of all (lien) assets, photos, and more. I have to use so much just to put the basics on a Windows laptop (MS vault, multiple factor, random this and that, etc)... With Apple it's easy, but I would not personally accept to put it on a third party (personal liability) - regardless.

I was hoping someone had a magical method (like email myself the clients card, then drag into calendar and merge with the assignment email I did the same in calendar - this does not work - but open to trial and error). The process is just what I was hoping someone might be able to suggest.

Remember - all I need it to get the contact phone number into the calendar event - from the contact card - today I cut and paste. No invite, no nothing. Is there a way to set up a separate calendar to a fake email - and that way the email would never send the invite (that would work). Just out here searching of options.
