I just edited a spreadsheet, closed it and then went to open it and it says downloading spreadsheet but does nothing. it shows a lock but doesn't show a place for a password.

The spreadsheet is likely hung on a stuck cloud sync or a lingering background process. The "lock" icon means the app thinks the file is already open or locked by an active session, which prevents the password prompt from appearing or the file from fully downloading.
