App Privacy Report: Camera has been used for 40 hours straight

According to app privacy report my camera has been used for over 40 hours straight without me using it.

I have also noticed that sometimes when I’m using the camera it doesn’t show the usage in the app privacy report.

Is it a bug? I know that I haven’t seen the green indicator during the 40 hours since I have been looking at the battery percentage.

Has anyone else seen this?

Are you choosing a specific app on the first screen of the Privacy Report to see it's Camera usage, or did you choose the Camera app itself on that first page?

I have seen apps like SnapChat where the Camera usage is reported when the app registers to use the camera, which the app does when it is launched or navigating screens instead of waiting until it is needed, but the camera is not actually on.

From my point of view, I would consider that to be a bug as it should just log the time it is on. You can provide a bug report here:

Have you updated to iOS 26.6? I know there have been some changes, but don't know if that was one of them.

MrHoffman provided a suggestion that I had not thought of for the Camera usage for Face ID, so that would be interesting to confirm too.

It’s not Face ID. It’s inadvertent launch of the Camera app from the lock screen. I have acquired a selection of inadvertent images and a video or three. Some of which were saved as abstract backgrounds. Other surprise screenshots showing a ceiling or such, not so much. Think “pocket dialing”, but with the camera.
