FCP video scopes on MBP, interface on external display

Final Cut Pro x 12.3 - Video Scopes in secondary display?

I know this topic was discussed years ago, and I'm not sure whether it was ever built into the new FCPX. I can't seem to find an easy way or a definitive answer to this.

Im running my M1 Max MBP and have a Apple cinema display that im working on. Is there a way to ONLY view the video scopes on my MBP screen while seeing the rest on the Cinema display? I was reading that Event Viewer could work, Ive never used it before and also Video Scopes are greyed out.

The scopes are always attached to the viewers, so no. You cannot have just the scopes on one screen.

You can have the viewer (and scopes) on the MBP and all the rest (browser, timeline, inspector) in the external display. To that, first move the FCP interface to the external, then do Window->Show in Secondary Display->Viewers.

I vaguely recall there was an FCP workspace mod that would allow the UI elements to be repositioned.

@coligreens - I've never used it and don't know if it's compatible with FCP 12.3 or if it will cause your Mac to burst into flames so use at your own risk.

Interesting tool, terryb!

It offers a pretty simple way to design a custom workspace.

However, I don't think it can do what the OP was asking, as the scopes are still and always part of the viewer.
