Keynote Version 15 keeps crashing when adding animation components

I have been trying to use Keynote to build a presentation (Version 15.3.1 (7050.1.1)) and it keeps crashing. As soon as I put any a little bit of animation it crashes and you need to move back to Keynote (version 14.4 (7043.0.93)) The old version. This app is very stable and Free!

Anybody else having this issue?

Hi there

No I dont have this issue but you can try this

Keynote version 15.3.1 can crash during animations due to graphics rendering bugs, corrupted cache files, or conflicts with specific media elements. While rolling back to version 14.4 is a functional short-term fix, you can resolve the newer version's instability through a clean reinstall and system checks.

Troubleshooting Keynote Crashes

  • Clear app cache: Completely uninstall Keynote, empty your trash, restart your Mac, and download a fresh copy from the App Store
  • Test in Safe Mode: Restart your Mac while holding the Shift key to see if third-party fonts, background utilities, or graphics drivers interfere with Keynote's animation engine.
  • Check media files: Heavy or poorly encoded embedded videos and animated GIFs can trigger render failures during transitions; try removing recent additions to isolate the trigger.
