MacBook Pro Keyboard is ridiculous.

Good day,

I just upgraded from a late 2015 MacBook Pro 15" to a M4 MacBook Pro 16".

Compared to my previous and every other MacBook I've own this keyboard is ridiculous. It feels cheap. It sounds horrible. Honestly I am shocked that Apple designed something this bad.

Do all of the new MacBooks have this same cheap noisy keyboard?

Arghhhhh.

You will have to visit an Apple store and test yourself what constitutes "cheap noisy"....which seems subjective.

I am wondering if something is wrong with your unit. My daughter just obtained (in Dec 2025) a new MacBook Pro 16" M4 Pro and the built in keyboard seems very quiet and functions well. She's pretty fussy and she likes it a lot. When I set it up for her (she uses it in her small business) I was jealous because it worked so smoothly compared to older laptops I use myself. Have you compared the way yours operates with new laptops in an Apple Store? Did you check or test those store units before buying yours?

Same here. My 16" M4Pro MBPro keyboard is wonderful. It's the nicest laptop I've ever owned.

If you just bought the MBPro, I suggest taking it into a Genius Bar and have them look at it. Or, if you are still within the 14-day return window, just return it for a refund.
