Apple Music on iPhone stuck syncing, playlists missing

My Apple Music library is stuck on ‘Syncing Library’ on my iPhone. I’ve been waiting for hours. My 28 playlists are still visible on music.apple.com, but none of them appear in the Music app. I’ve already restarted my iPhone, verified the Apple Account and subscription, and turned Sync Library off and back on.

When Apple Music gets stuck syncing your library, it is usually because of a poor internet connection, a temporary glitch with your Apple Account, or a large queue of files trying to update at once.

Quick Fixes to Try

  • Check your internet: Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to make sure your connection is stable.
  • Restart your device: Turn your phone or computer completely off and back on again.
  • Sign out and back in: Go to your device settings, sign out of your Apple Account, and sign back in.
  • Check system status: Visit the Apple System Status page to see if the Apple Music service is down.

This seems to be an issue with the iOS Apple Music app rather than poor internet connection- multiple people (including myself!) are stuck and unable to sync our music libraries to our phones. My desktop app is working fine and I have access to everything on there, but my phone has been stuck on a third of the way through syncing since this morning. You've responded to several forum posts about this- it's a wider issue that needs to be looked into
