Check your Wi-Fi settings

Check if the issue only occurs with a specific network

If your network doesn't appear, the network might be hidden by technology that blocks unauthorized devices or your network doesn't meet Apple's recommendations.

If you don't manage your network and don't know how to make configuration changes, contact your internet service provider (ISP).

Verify Wi-Fi router

1. Check if other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi network. If you can connect other devices to the Wi-Fi network, then the router and network are working.
2. Update your router with the latest firmware and make sure that the router supports your Apple product. If you need help, contact the router's manufacturer.
3. Make sure that you turn on your router and it is in range—you might be too far from the signal. If your router supports separate frequencies, try joining another frequency—for example, join 5 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz.
4. Restart your router and cable modem by unplugging the devices and then plugging them back in. This refreshes the network connection and can resolve minor connection issues.

Reset network settings

Resetting your network settings causes all network settings to be removed, including your home, work, and school network configurations. Reset network settings only if other solutions fail. If a school or business configures your network, consult with IT or the network administrator before you reset the network.
