Voice dictation in on screen keyboard stops working after hours or minutes.
Voice dictation in on screen keyboard stops working for quadriplegic.
i'm having to dictate this in my iPhone because dictation in the on screen keyboard on my Mac mini always fails. Sometimes it's after a few minutes, sometimes it's when I click to enable it in the on screen keyboard after several hours. If I'm very lucky, it will continue to be available for a day or two.
I tried changing Input source. I tried turning dictation on or off in the accessibility keyboard. None of these work. Invariably I end up having to reboot the machine. I cannot use my hands and on screen keyboard does not get the focus. Even if it does, dictation doesn't work because my Logitech WebCam won't turn on and allow itself to be used as an input source or to use head pointer and facial gesture control until after I have logged in. It seems Apple took away the ability for applications to start on boot several iterations ago in the OS.
After the computer reboot, I have to somehow get the end of a long stick in my mouth and try poking on the physical keyboard keys in order to login. Try that yourself if you want to experience real pain and frustration.
This has been going on for several years and hundreds and hundreds of people have reported the same problem. When is Apple going to take this seriously?
If I don't want to reboot my machine and go through that whole painful process of logging in, I have to resort to dictating on my phone, copying my Input text, and then clicking on the input field on the Mac and pasting the copy text. Again, try that yourself if you want to experience frustration.
And before you comment on incorrect grammar or spelling or strange words, know that I'm dictating this on my phone as well.
