I've already gone and done these things: Went to settings, menu bar, battery, battery options and turned on show percentage. The icon still isn't showing on my menu bar. And there's no battery icon in the widget either so I have no way of knowing how much battery I have left or if it's charging.
I'd like to know how I can get it back showing up on the taskbar. I don't like not being able to see what the battery is doing.

If your menubar has lots of stuff, one icon may get blocked.
For me, they get under the "notch" in the display or my 14" M4 Pro Macbook Pro. I discovered this when changing the screen resolution in System Settings > Displays. Try the "More Space" option to see if the battery icon reappears:

Not sure what is your "task bar"...
Are you referring to the Menu bar alone the top?
Sounds like a new issue for you— if not available or responding in the >System Settings
Try a SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support to sort anomalies
Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
Have you tried rebooting the computer?
Do you have a lot of icons on the menubar? If so, then some of them won't display if you have too many shown. IIRC, macOS Tahoe has an option to disable some of those icons being displayed on the menubar to free up critical space on the menubar allowing other icons to be shown.
Check the Apple System Profiler's "Power" section to make sure the system even sees the battery and has details about the battery. You can access the System Profiler by Option-clicking the Apple menu & selecting the first item. If the battery details are not shown there, then the system is not seeing the physical battery. Years ago Apple would display an "X" on the battery icon, but these days I'm not sure what macOS will show (it would not surprise if they didn't display the battery icon at all).

Works for me with these settings:
Go to system settings>menu bar>show percentage to have the battery percentage shown in the menu bar
