Freezing IPhone Air in Photos app

My newer iPhone Air (with current up to date software) keeps freezing in the Photos app. Cannot look at or search for any pictures. Also, gets extremely hot at the end of charging or when freezing.

Is this happening to other Air Phone users?

Have you tried to force restart your iPhone to see if the issues persist?

Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button.
When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
