MacBook Air unable to input data into Excel cells

Sounds like you may not have signed into your MS365 account on the MacBook Air.

You need to be signed in to activate the license that allows you to save, and edit.

Agreed here. That's the first thing I'd check. If you are not signed in to your MS365 account on the Mac in question, you will only be able to open the document, not edit or save it.

Open any MS365 app then open the first (leftmost) menu item and look for "Sign In"

... as in Word > Sign In ...or... Powerpoint > Sign In.

You only need to do this in one of the apps, the sign-in will apply to all of them.

• Click the Formula Bar: Select a cell and click directly into the fx formula bar at the top instead of the cell itself to see if text registers.
• Toggle Edit Settings: Go to Excel > Preferences > Edit, uncheck "Edit directly in cell," close the settings, reopen them to re-check it, and restart Excel.
• Check Sheet Protection: Look at the Review tab to ensure "Protect Sheet" is turned off

Did you verify that you have a valid MS365 license and you are signed into your account from the app?

it did not work for me for some reason have you got any other suggestions, have even deleted all of Microsoft office 365 and re-installed it and it still does not work?
