I have an older wireless keyboard that runs off of two AA batteries. I start getting low battery notifications at 45% of charge, several times a day. The keyboard works fine, I would just like to get rid of the notifications. I can I do that?

Most mainstream operating systems (Windows and macOS) and manufacturer utility suites do not have a direct switch to change the low-battery warning threshold or disable notifications for a single specific wireless device. The trigger point is hardcoded into the device firmware or OS driver.
I have the exact same problem and question. Interestingly, the macOS behaviour changed with one of the recent updates, several weeks or a few months ago. While there have always been low battery notifications at a certain point, now they come much earlier and steadier: Several times a day as early as 20% or even 45%, like producer_man writes. This is annoying. One time warning at 5 or even 3% would be enough.
