The modem firmware on an iPhone is the software that controls the cellular modem/baseband chip (responsible for mobile network, SIM/eSIM, calls, SMS, and cellular data). If the Modem Firmware field becomes blank or disappear sunder Settings → General → About, it usually indicates a problem with the baseband subsystem.
- Check Settings → General → VPN & Device Management for any unknown profiles.
- Check whether IMEI is still displayed in Settings → General → About.
- Dial *#06# (if possible) to see if the IMEI appears.
If IMEI is missing along with Modem Firmware, it almost always points to a baseband communication failure with the logic board, not jailbreak or MDM. If IMEI is present but Modem Firmware is blank, a corrupted modem firmware installation is more plausible.
