Using Apple's Calendar App For A Shared Calendar

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of calendar apps in the App Store. Some of them seem to be designed for families or multiple users. Perhaps one of them would better suit your needs.

Most of the Apple apps are fairly basic. That has always been the case. The Apple Calendar app is fine for me I have light calendar needs. This means that people who don't need much are set. People who need more have a whole universe of apps to chose from. If I wanted a more powerful calendar app, I wouldn't chose one that emphasized sharing as that's not something I need.

Apple doesn't charge anything extra for apps like Calendar and Mail. What's the benefit to them to spend a lot of development resources making them more complex? Especially when people would still complain that it doesn't have some feature they want?

Apple usually likes to keep us in its ecosystem.

Apple wants to keep you in their hardware ecosystem. Apple also likes making their 30% from apps sold on the App Store.
