How to disable the auto-click cursor function - Tahoe

I recently bought a brand-new MacBook Pro (16") with Tahoe and am adapting from my Catalina/2012 MacBook Pro. It's been rough sledding.

Of the several things that irritate me, is the feature that when the cursor goes over some selection-option, it goes to that selection immediately without my clicking on it. Often, just opening a menu list takes 6-10 attempts before I get the selection that I want. It's so upsetting, that right now I'm typing on the old Mac - not the new one.

Any suggestions as to how to turn off this feature?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 26.6
