Unable to find USB stick properties on iMac

I am trying to play a usb stick in my car. It doesn’t work, yet it does on my imac. A video says to check the ‘properties’ of the stick. I can’t find them. When i plug it into the imac, it shows on the desktop & I can play songs. But there isn’t anywhere that say properties, that I can find. Anybody know why or where?
